Community Studies
Merchant Community Analysis specializes in “peer” community studies and assessments. Basically, the idea here is to compare and contrast specific data and statistics from your community to that of other “peer” communities. The goal is to
use the findings to determine your community’s strengths, weaknesses, and greatest challenges ahead.
You or your economic development agency has the option of determining which types of statistics to be used in the study, as well as which communities that would serve as “peers” for the study. Alternatively, Merchant Community Analysis can generate for you a set of “peer” communities based on our own mathematical models. Merchant Community Analysis can also assist in determining the specific statistics to be used for comparison purposes in the study.
Mr. Merchant has completed peer community assessments for areas as large as the Clarksville-Hopkinsville, TN-KY MSA and as small as Lincoln County, Tennessee. A 2009 study on Robertson County, Tennessee, has been published by the Social Science Research Network. A copy of this comparative assessment is available to the public on the SSRN web site.
Merchant Community Analysis can complete other types of studies and produce other types of custom reports for your community. These may include a labor force analysis, a targeted industry study, or an economic snapshot. We also provide Data Services and Economic Impact Analysis.
